Addressing some FAQs about the apps

No, the apps are free for all users.

No – unlike other apps out there, there is no limit on the number of users that can sign up. The more app users who are benefiting from this fantastic resource, the better.

Yes they can use the same app, but they will have to create different accounts for each child and switch between them. This is important because the app offers personalised advice for the management of asthma, and every child is different.

Yes absolutely – the app is very accessible and user-friendly, and our experience is that older people are very engaged particularly if you explain that the app can help keep them well and less likely to need to go to hospital for their asthma or COPD (if they use it regularly, of course!).

For those who are not familiar with apps or don’t have a smart phone, we are developing a webapp which can be accessed through an internet browser on a laptop or desktop computer.

For those who do not engage with computers or smart phones at all, you could suggest their relatives or carers download the app on their behalf, so the patient can still get the benefit from the app.

Currently the app is only available in English. However, the same app used by NHS Wales is bilingual (English and Welsh). We are working with the commissioning team in West Yorkshire to determine if additional languages are necessary. We will keep you up to date with any changes made.

The app does not link directly but patients are able to download their Asthma/ COPD summary which summarises how well they have been in the last 12 months. Patients are encouraged in the app to prepare this summary to give to their healthcare professional, to make your consultations easier.
